Warning: This episode of Geek Strand contains content of an adult nature and should be read only by mature readers.
(Of course, Really? How mature and adult can we be in a column about a Batman parody?)
There comes a time in a young boys life when thoughts start to turn from comic books to girls and the possibility that they might have something to offer other than cooties. During the time these two separate worlds co-mingle. Debates on whether Wonder Woman or Catwoman was hotter or if Robin and Batgirl were hooking up were quietly discussed outside of adults’ hearing range.
For most males, this is a forgotten and only remains as a kinky desire to have their girlfriend dress up as Wonder Woman and tie them up. However, for many geeks, the idea of super heroines and sexy situations becomes a life long kink.
In the shadows of the comic book universe, and the geek world in general, amateur stories of what goes on between the pages and sheets of our favorite costumed villains and vigilantes has become a culture of its own. Erotic artwork of quality indistinguishable from the professionals is shared and purchases via the Internet. While many who saw “The Watchmen” were shocked at a Rated R superhero movie, many geeks out there applauded the movie for the first “in-costume” love scene in a movie. It was a big step forward for those who get a rise out of caped copulation.
This summer, Vivid Entertainment and Axel Braun Productions have taken this superhero fetishism to its next level with “Batman XXX: A Porn Parody”
Written and directed by Braun, the parody mimics the 1960s “Batman” TV series in loving detail. From exquisite reproductions of the costumes, to the big red phone and the secret button for the batpoles hidden in a bust of Shakespeare, there is no doubt that Braun is a big fan.
Just having good costumes was not enough for this porn parody. Braun searched the adult films world for actors and actresses that would bring his uncanny Batman-like dialogue to life as well as the originals. Dale DaBone and James Deen are a perfect mirror for the original TV Batman and Robin, Adam West and Burt Ward, and even minor roles like Commissioner Gordon and Chief O’Hara (Jack English and David Alan in the parody/Neil Hamilton and Stafford Repp in the original) are faithfully recreated in acting and dialoged.
However, much like the recent big screen bat movie, the villains really pull off the magic. Evan Stone nails Frank Gorshin’s performance as the green and question marked Riddler, and Randy Spears fits perfectly Cesar Romero’s purple suit and gloves as the devious Joker.
Were all the sex scenes edit out (and this is a hardcore movie, fyi), it would be easy to think this was a continuation of the original series. It has everything, right down to the little touches, like special guest stars popping out the window while Batman and Robin “climb” up a building (adult porn star Ron Jeremy in this case) and the cliffhanger ending involving a silly trap.
Strangely enough, the official licensed Bat world has been rather quiet on the film. No lawsuits or anything. Whether that is because, Braun is well protected by his First Amendment rights to parody or because the movie is just so damn impressive in its capture of the 60s series that they decided to let it stand on artistic beauty alone, it is hard to say. But expect more Batman XXX (and other heroic imitators) to be in appearing in the adult section of your local video store soon.
